...............................*sigh* third movie of the "Wolf Man Legacy" and this time it's "She-Wolf of London" and no it's not connected to Werewolf of London in anyway, it's obviously a play on and you know Unviersal has been doing female versoins of famous monsters, you had Bride of Frankenstein (which i loved) and Dracula's Daughter (which i thought was alright) but then there is this...ugh...

Jeez let's get the plot over with.

It's about a young girl named Phyllis Allenby (played by June Lockhart) who will soon to be married to a barrister named Barry Lanfield (played by Don Porter) however she lives in a roof under a caring but yet strict aunt named Martha Winthrop (played by Sara Haden). At their local park there has been a series of murders happening, which leads to rumors about the "She-Wolf" a feral like creature that comes out at night due to a curse and kills anyone it sees. One day Phyllis wakes up to find blood on her fingers and due to this she starts to believe she might be the one causing all those murders and as days go by more murders are happening in the park making her feel more stressed and convincing that she has been doing these murders lately making her more broken. This movie...is more mystery and thriller rather  than horror and if you know like all the twists, turns from experience  from watching movies with plot twists then with this movie you'll know exactly what happens, you know who is really the bad guy around here there's no question and...ugh ok time to let this part out now.

There is no werewolf...like at all. We never see the "werewolf", oops i'm sorry "She-Wolf" at all. She is either off screen most of the time or she is covered in a robe and we never see her face...if you know the ending to this movie you would unerstand why but...seriously this is false advertziment, i expected to see the first female werewolf on screen from universal, they did it with Dracula's Daughter and Bride of Frankenstein so what the hell happened here? Did they think putting werewolf make up on a woman would make her too ugly? But aren't monsters supposed to be ugly? I don't know, this film feels more like it's a cash grab off the Wolf Man series, i guess Universal wanted to make a female version of the WOlf Man and while that would be interesting considering what they did before...this was the wrong way of doing it.

One thing i do have to give credit for is...one violent piece of imagination. You see one of the first murders (off screen) is that of a 10 year old boy being killed. You hear him scream and i never heard a boy scream like that and to be fair it was...scary. And then when the news comes about they said the boy was "ripped apart" like...jeez that's...violent for a 1940s film. I mean yeah in Frankenstein a little girl drowns but at least you don't get the idea that a little boy got fuckign ripped apart! That was horror rigth there, when i heard this i was like "Oh my is this She-Wolf gonna be a visiocious violent beast more than the other two wolfman movies i watched?" but since we never get to see her in action, always hiding in a hood (even in those scenes she doesn't stay for very long) and it was so dissapointing.

I do like how they make it more mysterious as time goes on but through out the whole movie you'll be thinking "Ok but where's the She-Wolf? I want to see what she looks like! At least a transformation or something?" but nope no transformation, not even a little bit of it, not even furry legs or hands just...we just have to be convinced that there is a "She-Wolf" running about killing people.

And believe me all the acting in this movie is good but...i'm sorry i think it's becuase i expected a werewolf movie and not something like this.

If you like this movie; more power to you, i guess it's not really the movies fault it's on the Wolf Man Legeacy Collection; i guess the people behind the DVD needed to add one more movie so they just found this one and added it in there.

As a movie on it's own? It's passable i guess but i mean like i said it's more focused on mystery rather than horrro so if you expected to see a female werewolf on screen most of the time...sorry but if this review hasn't convinced you already then go look some place else. If you want to see mystery stuff then this one is for you i suppose but don't expect a monster...p

Now believe me i'm not saying this is the worst movie i ever saw, belive me there are good points about this movie as i said but due to the fact you don't see the werewolf or even see a transformation or even know if it ever existed at all...makes this film feel like a let down.

So i'll give She-Wolf of London:

5/10

Now i'm not dowe with the Wolf Man franchise yet, in fact there are pletny more movies to do which would help link up a certain Dracula movie i haven't watched next to a certain Frankenstein movie i haven't watched but before i look into those two (and the other Wolfman movies i got) there is one more wolfman movie i want to talk about before heading into those and while it's not part of the classic black and white series....i do own the movie and...considering i've been doing the Wolf Man legacy for the past few reviews...i might as well review it. So tune in next time!
